Support the seafood industry into the future
Seafood Directions was established in 1999 as a Fisheries Research and Development Corporation (FRDC) initiative to provide an industry forum for the exchange of ideas, investigation of issues and to facilitate learning from experts, colleagues and associated industries.
In 2017, we invite you to ‘Sea the Future’ of our industry as we celebrate the 10th milestone Seafood Directions conference at Sydney’s new, world-class venue - the International Convention Centre in Darling Harbour.
Through the themes of Improving the Margin, Innovation and Future Proofing, Seafood Directions will explore ground-breaking new technology, research and ideas that will shape our industry in the years to come. From our discoveries and discussions at the conference, we endeavour to develop strategies that will help steer the industry towards a respected, prosperous and dynamic future.
Attracting delegates and speakers from all sectors of the seafood industry including fishers, aquaculturists, retailers, scientists and other industry representatives, Seafood Directions is the premier educational and networking event for our industry.
We encourage you to be a part of this forward-thinking, 10th milestone Seafood Directions conference through one of our various sponsorship and exhibitor opportunities outlined in this prospectus.
We look forward to you welcoming you to this exciting event in September 2017 and hope that you will enjoy the conference and your time in Sydney.

The fishing and aquaculture industries are Australia’s fifth most valuable food industry after meat, grains and oilseeds, fruit and vegetables, and milk. Businesses range in size from the very large to the very small, and are located all around our huge coastline – often in very remote locations – so they can be difficult to get to.
When you add the post-harvest businesses, equipment suppliers, wholesalers, distributors, processors, food service companies and retailers you get a very large number of businesses who are involved with the seafood industry in Australia. If you want to meet the decision makers this is the place to do it!
Seafood Directions is the only conference and trade show that is dedicated to all things seafood. Only held once every two years it is the premier seafood event in Australia attracting over 350 visitors:
• from every state and territory in Australia, as well as international
• focused on the future of Australia’s seafood industry
• looking for ideas that will improve their bottom line
• with the authority to make decisions
This means that you have a qualified target audience to communicate with over two days. The breakout and catering are all located within the exhibition area and there are a very limited number of
opportunities to exhibit – when they are gone, they are gone!
